University of Cebu Medical Center Media Conference and Inaugural Dinner

Last September 4, 2012, a Media Conference and Inaugural Dinner was held in the Main Ballroom of Marco Polo Hotel Cebu. It is about Cebu's would-be newest tertiary hospital, University of Cebu Medical Center. The Department of Health already approved the construction and the building will be located in North Reclamation Area , Subangdaku, Mandaue City, Cebu. The approval went through the Health Facilities Establishment Review Committee and was stated in a letter from the office of DOH Secretary Dr. Enrique T. Ona, FPCS, FACS to University of Cebu President Atty. Augusto W. Go last July 30, 201.

University of Cebu Medical Center will be a Level 4 and a General Hospital. It will span across an 8,000 square meter property at the Mandaue North Reclamation Area. It will be the first of its kind in Mandaue City.

University of Cebu will initially invest 2 Billion Pesos for the completion of this project and will soon provide quality but affordable education and medical services. UC will also establish a medical school and medical hospital.

The hospital will be linked to all the merchant marine students, medical and nursing students for their medical accreditation and attention, training, employment, and medical needs. UC students and alumni will also be part of the link because they will receive special discounts.

University of Cebu is one of the biggest educational institution in the country today, having 4 campuses in the metro and more than 44,000 total student population.

Last 2008, University of Cebu and their partners acquired St. Vincent General Hospital and renovated it to meet the demands of increasing medical attention in Cebu. After their purchase and renovation, PhilHealth accredited St. Vincent General Hospital as a tertiary hospital with a total bed capacity of 100.

Quality but affordable education and medical care will now be elevated towards greater heights because UC-MC will provide special privilege for our less fortunate brothers and sisters.

"We are always searching for ways to improve our services.  With UCMC, medical education and medical care will be enhanced to serve people," as quoted from University of Cebu Chancellor Candice Gotianuy.
